Professor Mehdian is a world-leading Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon who specialises in complex reconstructive spinal deformity surgery in children and adults. In addition vast experience in treating the following conditions:

• Spinal fractures

• Spinal tumours

• Cervical disorders

• Scoliosis (idiopathic, congenital and neuromuscular)

NEW SPINAL X-RAYS

Professor Mehdian is among the few spinal surgeons in the UK that perform cervical osteotomies for the correction of severe cervical kyphotic deformity in patients with ankylosing spondylitis. In addition he has pioneered surgical techniques to reduce high grade spondylolisthesis and to correct spinal imbalance.

Professor Mehdian has presented and published over 150 papers and written instructional chapters in international textbooks, in the field of spinal disorders. He has developed a number of techniques for the correction of sagittal deformities of the spine. He is an active member of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, Cervical Spine Research Society, Scoliosis Research Society, British Scoliosis Society, British Cervical Spine Society, British Association of Spinal Surgeons, the Society of Low Back Pain and Research, the British Orthopaedic Association and European Spine Society.

His surgical work can be viewed in the ‘Open Operating Theatre’, in the European Spine Journal as model examples for training surgeons.

Professor Mehdian has invented a number of spinal instrumentation systems that are manufactured in the UK and used worldwide. He has been involved in the design and development of innovative spinal instrumentation systems and holds US and European patents. In 1991 he was included in the Inventors Who’s Who of Science and Technology.
